Around the world in 78 days
DESCRIPTION
This is a project carried out during my Game Design 2ᵉ year studies. Composed of a team of 10 people (2 GD / 8 3D). The theme aimed at an interpretation of Jules Verne's work "Around the world in 80 days". We therefore created a narrative game combining management and strategy, over a period of three weeks (03/22).
MY WORK
During this project, I was in charge of the development part, with the possible moves and actions. I also designed the menu interfaces and created the level design with the layout of the paths to follow.
PITCH
Cadence is a historian who has published a book in which she estimates the journey time at well under 80 days. But Phileas Fogg, who told the press that it takes exactly 80 days to circumnavigate the world, discredited her work. So she undertook the journey herself to prove her point.
GAMEPLAY
The player controls Cadence and starts out in the city of London. All movements are handled automatically. The game is designed to be played with the mouse only. You need to look at the map, click on the city zone to get its name and the appropriate vehicle. Confirm your choice and the character will move.
FURTHER DETAILS
The game was made in three weeks, with only 2 Game Designer, there may remain many bugs. Also, it can't be finished, because due to lack of time, we weren't able to make the final crossings. The game ends in Japan.
WORKING TOOL
Games made on Unity 3D. All the 3D models (and animations) and the environment were created by the 3D team (Maya / Blender / Zbrush). The entire game was produced by the game team, apart from the sounds and music.
